How to Pick Lucky Lottery Numbers for the Aussie Superdraw

How to Pick Lucky Lottery Numbers?

The last Australian Superdraw of the year is approaching fast.

On Dec 31st, Australian Lotto 6/45 will have a special jackpot worth a magnificent A$31 MILLION!

With such a life-changing prize up for grabs, getting those lottery numbers right has never been more important.

So have a quick look through LottoExpress’s list of the 5 most common ways of picking lottery numbers and decide which one is perfect for you!

1. Play Hot Numbers

According to the frequency theory, certain numbers are believed to have a better chance of being drawn than others.

These “hot” numbers are ones that have shown up frequently in past draws. So it stands to reason that these numbers are likely to show up again, leading to a higher chance of winning.

The two most commonly drawn or hot numbers in the Australian Superdraw between 2006 and 2014 were 21 and 1. These were drawn a lucky 14 and 13 times, respectively.

Other hot numbers include: 2, 5, 7, 23, 27, 30, 32, 40

2. Play Cold Numbers

“Cold” numbers are less common and barely showed up in previous draws.

This theory is based on the law of averages which states that all numbers have an equal chance of being drawn – and that the longer a specific number hasn’t been drawn, the more likely it is that it will show up next time.

The top two cold numbers in the Australian Superdraw held between 2006 and 2014 are 18 and 28. Both have only shown up three times!

Other cold numbers include: 20, 24, 36, 37

3. Play Hot & Cold Numbers

If you enjoy lotto strategy but can’t decide on which number theory feels right for you, why not mix it up?

Shortlist some “hot” and “cold” numbers and play both, to improve your chances of winning.

Did You Know? 7 is considered to be the universal lucky number.

4. Play Quick Picks

If you don’t fancy the hassle of number-picking, consider letting the computer do all the work for you.

Quick Picks are randomly generated numbers that assign your lottery numbers for you. A majority of lottery players prefer this quick, stress-free option for a couple of reasons.

For one, Quick Picks tend to cover the less commonly used numbers in each lottery’s number pool (the full spread of numbers available to pick from).

There have also been a  few convincing stats linking Quick Picks and jackpot winners.  For instance, according to the US Powerball website, between 70-80% of winning lottery tickets sold are quick picks.

 5. Play Your Personal Lucky Numbers

Finally, the classic option: playing your own lucky numbers.

Lot of lotto players prefer playing numbers that have personal significance to them and there are both pros and cons to this method.

One downside is that most people’s lucky numbers are often birthdays, anniversaries, and other important calendar dates. (In other words, numbers between 1 and 31.) But for all major lotteries, the number matrix extends well beyond 31, meaning a whole range of numbers is left out.

But on the other hand, some lottery observers insist that you should pick your own lottery numbers, because there is a good chance that quick pick systems assign commonly used numbers.

5 US Powerball Questions Every Lotto Player Asks

5 US Powerball Facts Every Lottery Player Should Know!

Possibly the most exciting lotto game around, US Powerball is one of the most popular lotteries in the world.

Known for its big jackpots and life-changing prizes, here are answers to some of your most burning Powerball questions:

 1. How do Powerball jackpots get so big?

The starting or minimum jackpot for this American lottery is US$40 million. So if the jackpot isn’t won, it rolls over – and this American giant has guaranteed jackpot rollovers of at least an additional US$10 million each time! Finally, there isn’t any jackpot cap – so the jackpot keeps growing until it’s won. Or breaks the world-record like it did, last January when it hit US$1.56 BILLION.

 2. What can I win with US Powerball?

US Powerball has 9 prize categories. Besides the life-changing jackpot (which everyone has their eye on!), it’s interesting to note that the second and third place prize are pretty substantial as well. You win an estimated US$1 million if you come in second, and around US$50,000 for third place.

3. But what are my chances of winning the Powerball jackpot?

Your chance of winning the big one are 1 in 292,201,338 – which is pretty standard, when you consider just how large these jackpots get. To win the powerball jackpot, you must match all 5 main numbers as well as the bonus powerball number. Your overall odds of winning any prize are 1 in 25. For a complete list of odds, check out our odds table.

4. Are there any ways to improve my chances of winning?

While there is no sure fire ways of winning the lottery, there are certain things you can do to improve your chances. For instance, you could join a syndicate – where you pool your money as a group to buy more tickets. Another tip is to try and Quick Pick your numbers instead of selecting them yourself. (This is when you let the computer generate random numbers for you). According to the Powerball website, around 70% to 80% of winners had Quick-Pick tickets.

5. Can I play US Powerball if I’m not from the US?

That’s where LottoExpress comes in! You can play US Powerball from the comfort of your own home with us. How it works is simple – you select your lottery, pick your numbers and that’s it. 3. Walk in rooms made of human bones

Room after room in the crypts of Santa Maria della Concezione are intricately decorated – with human bones.

There’s a crypt decorated entirely from leg bones, one with skulls, and another with pelvises. In some crypts, even the hanging light fixtures are made from human bones.

The remains are of the Capuchin friars, who instead of burying their fellow friars, decorated the walls of the crypts as a reminder that death can come at any time, and that one should always be prepared to meet God.

4. Catch a glimpse of Plague Island

A few miles away from Venice, lies a tiny, deserted island that was used as a plaque guaranteed station between 1793 – 1814. It once hosted over 160,000 infected people and it is rumored that 50% of the island’s soil consists of human remains.

It is also said that Napolean used the island at one point to store weapons. Finally, to add more gore to its dark history, a mental hospital opened on the island in 1922, and local legend claims that one of the doctors at the hospital would conduct torturous experiments on the patients.

While visitors are forbidden to set foot on this island, if you’re sailing along the Grand Canal, try and catch a glimpse of this dark – and possibly haunted – island.

5. Decipher a secret recipe on a ‘magic’ door

According to legend, in 1660s, the Marquis Palombara met an alchemist at a dinner party who told him he had discovered the herb to turn metals into gold.

He vanished in the morning, however, leaving behind a “recipe” for the transformation along with flakes of gold.

As the Marquis was unable to decipher the writing, he had it inscribed on his door – hoping that someone who could understand it would see it and come knocking.

This gate is the only thing that still stands today – and you can go right up to it. When you do, see if you can spot the mysterious symbol carved above its doorway!
